I am pretty careful when it comes to smells. If it seems to have the least bit of smoke smell I do NOT purchase or sell it. Vintage material may have been previously laundered. Vintage material has obviously been stored for some time, so slight stale smells are not unexpected. I do sometimes wash a vintage piece to make sure a smell will come out before I sell.
